Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, called the "Queen of Fashion," was born in 1883 in the town of Saumur in western France. She conquered the fashion world in Paris with the progressive design of her suits with pants and skirts. Already in 1912, she opened her first salon and soon became a famous fashion designer, and by the mid-20th century, she set the trends of haute couture, with the Chanel brand worn by celebrities such as Jacqueline Kennedy and Grace Kelly. Not long after, Chanel expanded her interests into cosmetics and perfumery. Her first perfume was launched on the market in 1921 – the legendary Chanel No. 5, which is one of the most famous and best-selling fragrances ever.
