John Lewis (1940-2020) served as the U.S. Representative for Georgia's fifth congressional district from 1987 until his passing in 2020 and was an American Icon widely known for his role in the Civil Rights Movement. He organized sit-ins at segregated lunch counters in Nashville, then made national headlines as one of the Freedom Riders who challenged segregation at interstate bus terminals.
